KUALA LUMPUR: Who will win tonight's Causeway derby? Malaysia or Singapore?
A Timesport poll on X sees readers picking Malaysia as the overwhelming favourites in this Asean Cup Group A match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
It shows 96.1pct of the voters expect Malaysia to win while Singapore got only 3.9pct.
And on Facebook, 80pct of the readers picked Malaysia to win.
It's a do-or-die match between the two bitter rivals as only the winners will advance to the Asean Cup semi-finals.
Despite the overwhelming numbers, it is Singapore who sit above Malaysia in Group A.
Harimau Malaya are third with four points while Singapore are second with six points.
And Malaysia can't even afford a draw tonight while Singapore don't even have to win the match.
Tan Hou posted: "Malaysia Boleh Stadium crowd to sing loudly Negaraku tonight. Unless luck is against Malaysia. Sushi has no appetite and only eats chips at the Singapore bench (taking a dig at Singapore's Japanese coach Tsutomu Ogura."
FB user Shaolin Boxer posted: "Singapore must win. Proof that mesia kaki bangku a lot."
Malaysia had played Singapore nine times in the Asean Cup with Harimau Malaya recording four wins, three draws and two losses. Yet, in terms of overall success, Singapore have a better record with four titles (1998, 2004, 2007 and 2012) compared to Malaysia's solitary triumph in 2010.
At the Asean Cup in 2022, Harimau Malaya mauled the Lions 4-1 at the National Stadium.
