MUNICH: Scottish golfer Ewen Ferguson secured a two-shot victory at the BMW International Open on Sunday for his third European Tour title.
The world No. 168 fired a four-under-par 68 to finish clear of runners-up Jordan Smith and David Micheluzzi.
Ferguson, who started the day tied for the lead with Smith, made five birdies and a bogey in his first 14 holes before four consecutive pars saw him home.
"I honestly can't believe it," said Ferguson, whose win also helped him qualify for the British Open later this month at Royal Troon.
"The last four holes I felt like I was in a dream, I didn't think that this was actually happening, it was crazy I was hitting it so well and so much further than usual...
"The (Open) exemption with this is so much weight off my shoulders and I'm so happy."
LIV Golf star Patrick Reed, who started the day just two shots off the top of the leaderboard, fell away with a one-over-par 73 to finish in a tie for 13th.
The former Masters champion is still searching for a first professional win since January 2021. - AFP
