BERTAM: Marcus Lim claimed his maiden professional title at the Alphard Cup, part of the Toyota Tour, at Penang Golf Resort today.
The 24-year-old shot a four-under-par 68, giving him a seven-under total of 209 to secure the victory.
"I'm ecstatic with the result, though not entirely happy with my game," said Marcus.
"I know I can play better, and I'll need to step it up as I've got three Asian Development Tour (ADT) events coming up.
"My goal is to break into the ADT top 10 by the end of the season and earn an Asian Tour card."
Ben Leong finished second on 210, with Edven Ying a further stroke back in third.
In the women's event, Zulaikah Nasser captured her second consecutive tour win.
She posted a three-over 75 for a 215 total, edging Jocelyn Chee by two shots.
Amateur Winnie Ng carded the best final-round score among the women, a one-under 71, to finish third, three shots off the lead.
"I'm exhausted and need a break," said the 22-year-old Zulaikah, who won the Harrier Cup in Kuantan two weeks ago.
Before that, she triumphed at the Toyota Tour qualifying school at Kota Seriemas GCC.
With her second professional victory, Zulaikah is now considered the hottest player on the women's circuit and is gearing up for the Yaris Cup at The Mines Resort next month.
