Malaysia made to sweat by Trinidad and Tobago in Hockey 5s World Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia came from behind three times to beat Trinidad and Tobago 5-4 in Muscat, Oman, today, to reach the Hockey 5s World Cup men's semi-finals against Poland.

Poland edged Egypt 2-1 in the last eight. The other semi-final is between the Netherlands and Oman.

Scoring for Malaysia were Akhimullah Anuar Esook (ninth minute), Luqman Ahmad Shukran (12th), Abid Sufian Mat Ruslee (17th), Kamarulzaman Kamaruddin (22nd) and Syarman Mat Tee (25th).

On target for Trinidad and Tobago were Akim Toussaint (sixth), Mickell Pierre (10th) and Tariq Marcano (14th) and Teague Marcano (30th).

Defender Kamarulzaman said they never gave up and fought really hard against Trinindad and Tobago.

"We stand a 50-50 chance against Poland. We have the experience of playing in the hockey 5s final in the Youth Olympics before."
