IPOH: Malaysia wrapped up their Sultan Azlan Shah (SAS) Cup round-robin stage with a 1-0 win over bottom side South Korea today.
Striker Akhimullah Anuar Essok scored his first goal and the winner in the seventh minute at the Azlan Shah Stadium here as Malaysia earned nine points from five matches.
The Speedy Tigers, who finished third in the six-team standings, will take on fourth-placed New Zealand in the third-fourth playoff tomorrow.
New Zealand ended their campaign with seven points following two wins, a draw and two defeats.
National coach Sarjit Singh was not amused with his team's performance.
He added they were lucky not to be punished by the Koreans.
"I'm happy with the result but not with the performance. It's the worst game that we played. I hope we will play better tomorrow," said Sarjit in the post-match press conference.
"Korea had a lot of penalty corners, and we were lucky not to concede."
"It's the same as the Japan match, we had so many chances but couldn't score."
