KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia created history by qualifying for next year's Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile, after thrashing Thailand 6-0 to finish fifth in the Junior Asia Cup (JAC) at Oman Hockey Stadium in Muscat today.
The five teams that qualified from the JAC are India, China, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia.
Nurshamine Azureen Badusha scored a hat-trick against Thailand — in the second, ninth and 19th minutes. Azmyra Mia Sofea Azhairy (30th and 53rd) and Thibatharshini James (47th) were also on target.
Malaysia caoch Lailin Abu Hasan said: 'All our hard work in training has paid off, and my players have proved that they can deliver when it matter most.
"The future looks bright but we have to continue training hard in preparation for the Junior World Cup next year."
