Jazeman hungry for more after Super Trofeo success

KUALA LUMPUR: Race car driver Jazeman Jaafar is keen to build on his momentum after concluding a successful season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series recently.

Despite missing the opening round at Sepang in May, Jazeman and teammate Selim Rafique finished third overall in the Pro-Am category of the championships on 121 points after five rounds of racing.

The Arrows Racing duo won race one and finished second in race two during the final round at Jerez over the weekend.

"Wrapping up the season with five podiums - three of them race wins - and placing third in the championship has been an achievement," said Jazeman yesterday.

"Arrows Racing have given us an incredible package and we were able to be competitive throughout the season, despite missing the Sepang round.

"I truly believe we have huge potential and can be even higher on the grid. I hope to use this momentum to push harder in my future programmes and be competitive at a higher level.

"I look forward to our announcement in the next couple of weeks."

It is understood that Jazeman is currently negotiating a contract for next season though it is unclear in which series.

The 32-year-old, who focused on formula racing earlier in his career, has vast experience racing GT cars having previously competed in the GT World Challenge series and has also raced prototypes in the World Endurance Championships.
