KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia won one gold, one silver and a bronze medal in the apparatus finals of the artistic gymnastics event at Malaysian International Trae and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), just moments ago.
After a much-heated decision in the women’s beam final, Malaysia’s Tan Ing Yueh was awarded the silver instead of the earlier gold medal with a final score of 13.100pts while Indonesia’s Rifda Irfanaluthfi takes the gold with just a 13.125pts.
Kaitlin Cera Lianne De La Cruz finished in third while another Malaysian representative, Tracie Ang, ends in the seventh after only managing 11.050pts.
Meanwhile, Farah Ann Abdul Hadi successfully defended her Sea Games gold medal after winning the floor exercise apparatus with 13.450pts, ahead of Philippines’ La Cruz (13.025pts) and Rifda (13.000pts) in second and third, respectively.
The men’s high bar event saw 2015 Sea Games gold medallist Jeremiah Loo Phay Xing clinch the bronze medal after recording 13.000pts, just 0.350pts behind Vietnam’s Le Thanh Tung and Dinh Phuong Thanh in first and second, respectively.
Jeremiah also recorded a fourth place finishing with 13.400pts in the parallel bars discipline as Vietnam scores a double podium as Dinh Phuong Thanh and Pham Phuoc Hung finished in first and second with Thailand’s Jamorn Prommanee in third.
