PETALING JAYA: 'Ice queen' Anja Chong collected her second 2017 Sea Games gold medal as Malaysia completed a double podium finish in the women's individual 1000m speed skating (short track) at the Malaysia National Ice Skating Stadium (MYNISS), Empire City in Damansara Perdana, today.
Anja Chong collected her second gold medal, the first in the women's 500m yesterday, as she was just 0.072s in front of Singapore's Cheyenne Goh, who was also a 2017 International Skating Union (ISU) World Short Track Championship participant, at 1:48.835s.
Ashley recovered her bronze after she out-skated Kathryn Magno of the Philippines with a time of 1:49.321s.
In the men's event, Hazim Shahrum secured the bronze medal for Malaysia, after he defeated Singapore's Miki Chong with a time of 1:57.870s.
The same event saw Thailand's Triphop Thongngam and Lucas Ng of Sigapore win the gold and silver medal, respectively.
The men's and women's 3000m relay will commence at 1pm.
