PETALING JAYA: The Ice Skating Association of Malaysia (ISAM) exceeded their three gold medal target for the 2017 Sea Games after speed skating contributed four more gold medals on top of Julian Yee's win in figure skating last Saturday.
Anja Chong was responsible for three of the gold medals after she won the women's individual 500m and 1000m as well as the women's 3000m relay alongside teammates Ashley Chin, Nor Marissa Alia Lokman and See Wan Ni at the Malaysia National Ice Skating Stadium (MYNISS), Empire City in Damansara Perdana.
The fourth gold medal came from the men's 3,000m relay where the team, comprising Mohd Ariff Rasydan, De-Vin Wong, Khairil Ridhwan Khalil and Hazim Shahrum, outshined Indonesia with a time of 4:31.438s.
In the women's individual 1000m, Ashley Chin picked up the bronze medal she was denied on the first day, as Singapore's Cheyenne Goh won silver.
Hazim contributed Malaysia's third bronze medal after he defeated Singapore's Miki Chong in final A as Triphop Thongngam of Thailand and Singapore's Lucas Ng took gold and silver, respectively.
Yesterday, Ariff contributed Malaysia's second bronze medal, after Chew Kai Xiang in figure skating last Saturday, following his win in the men's 500m.
