KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) general manager Maradona Chok will take on added responsibility as the national body's new secretary-general effective Jan 1 next year.
The Sabah-born was handpicked for the role by MTBC president Datuk Dr P.S Nathan.
He replaces George Tan who resigned from the position in May due to health reasons
Maradona had previously held the treasurer’s post, a position that will now be filled by Choo Yew Kuen.
The 43-year-old said he is hoping to keep the sport moving in the right direction.
"This is a very important role and I am honoured that MTBC have placed their trust in me," said Maradona.
"MTBC has always been successful under the leadership of Nathan and vice-president Mohd Najeeb Abdullah. I hope to keep us on the right path.
"We have always placed a strong emphasis on continuity and squad succession and intend to keep focusing on that.
"We will continue to develop our youngsters and have them ready to step up when the time comes. It is important for them (younger players) to support the current podium squad."
Maradona joined the national body full time as general manager following the retirement of Sidney Tung in 2013. He was Sabah Bowling secretary from 2005-2010.
