STRIKER Faizal Saari, who tested positive for Covid-19, apologised to his national teammates yesterday.
After Faizal got infected, the entire national hockey team were placed under quarantine. Malaysia eventually withdrew from the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) starting tomorrow in Dhaka.
"I would like to apologise to my teammates and the Malaysian Hockey Confederation, especially president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal," said Faizal yesterday.
"I apologise for putting the team in this situation. This is not something that I wanted but it happened, and I take responsibility.
"Because of me, the team could not play in the ACT, and I'm most affected by this.
"I had followed the SOP set by the management but I still got infected. I have no idea where I picked up the virus from," said Faizal.
