While the development programmes of many national sports associations are badly hit by the government's budget cuts, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) are busy planning ahead.
Their National Hockey Development Programme (NHDP) is still going on amid Covid-19 obstacles and other logistic problems.
To move the NHDP forward, MHC held a workshop, together with the National Sports Council (NSC) and Education Ministry.
The three-day workshop was held at the NSC grounds in Bukit Jalil and attended by 170 participants.
There were 14 youth head coaches from states, 14 from the Education Ministry, 14 from state HAs and 64 part-time coaches.
The NHDP replaced the 1Mas Programme, which was started in 2010 and ended in 2018. The NHDP are expected to show results in three to four years.
The other two sports which have a national development programme are rugby and football.
