LIM Kok Leong has stormed into the Sea Games men's snooker final and will take on Thai legend James Wattana for the gold today.
Kok Leong, who triumphed in the men's six-red singles earlier this week, was on fire yesterday, routing Thailand's Passakorn Suwanawat 4-0 (95-21, 68-64, 99-0, 66-40) in the 15-red singles semi-final at the Ha Dong Gymnasium.
Passakorn, the 2011 Asian champion was swept aside as the 27-year-old Kok Leong scorched the baize with his fiery potting.
At the age of 52, former world No 3 Wattana proved he is still a force to be reckoned with by defeating Myanmar's 2018 Asian champion Aung Phyo 4-1 (69-42, 113-9, 1-90, 107-0, 67-61 in the semi-final.
Kok Leong said he has huge respect for Wattana and expects a tough match in today's final.
"It will be very interesting. Wattana is somebody whom I have huge respect for.
"He was already making a name for himself before I was born!
"I need to continue playing at my best to have a chance of winning the final."
Kok Leong had started his Sea Games campaign by defeating Filipino Alvin Barbero 4-0 in the opening round and Laos' Siththideth Sakbieng 4-1 in the quarter-finals.
Wattana downed Malaysia's Moh Keen Hoo 4-1 in the opening round followed by a quarter-final win over Laos' Sophanith Men by the same margin.
