KUALA LUMPUR: Para-powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin clinched Malaysia's fourth gold medal at the Commonwealth Games when he won the men's lightweight event with a new Games record in Birmingham today.
The 23-year-old becomes the first Malaysian para-athlete to win a title at the Games.
Bonnie, a world record holder and a Paralympic champion, earned 154.6 points— a new Games record — following lifts of 210kg, 216kg and 220kg at the National Exhibition Centre in West Midlands.
England's Mark Swan finished second with 145.5 points, followed by Nigeria's Innocent Nnamdi (132.5 points).
