KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's S. Sivasangari made short work of American Caroline Fouts to reach the third round of the World Squash Championships in Cairo, Egypt today.
Sivasangari needed just 24 minutes to win 11-6, 11-7, 11-6. The London Classic winner will face the winner of the match between Egypt's world No. 3 Hania El Hammamy and France's Melissa Alves next.
World No. 13 Sivasangari said: "I'm happy with the way I moved from my first round match which was a bit sluggish.
"Caroline is a talented player. Although she is still very young, we haven't competed against each other yet but we hit a bit together a few times when I went to New York, where she is based.
"Obviously, there were nerves and stuff, but I started well, I was confident in my game and I'm happy to win in three."
National women's champion Aira Azman lost in the second round, 11-6, 11-3, 11-6, to England's world No. 6 Georgina Kennedy.
Meanwhile, German Open champion Ng Eain Yow advanced into the third round for the first time in a world meet with an 11-1, 11-5, 11-9 win over Japanese Ryunosuke Tsukue in 36 minutes.
Eain Yow is most likely to face world No. 2 Paul Coll of New Zealand for a place in the quarter-finals.
World No. 17 Eain Yow said: "Just happy to go through, it's my first time in the third round.
"People might say oh, it's a good second round, but I know him. He has beaten me in a junior competition before. It doesn't matter what the actual ranking is, he knows in his head he can beat me. But I'm glad to win in straight sets," said Eain Yow.
