Eain Yow scores an upset, Sivasangari loses at British Open

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 15 Ng Eain Yow is the only Malaysian left standing at the British Open.

On Monday, Eain Yow upset world No. 13 Aly Abou Eleinen of Egypt 4-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 in 47 minutes to reach the men's third round in Birmingham.

However, it was the end of the road for world No. 15 S. Sivasangari and No. 37 Aifa Azman in the women's second round.

Sivasangari could not repeat her London Classic victory over world No. 1 Nour El Sherbini, losing 11-9, 11-8. 11-6 to the defending champion in 35 minutes.

Aifa did well to take a game off world No. 16 Fayrouz Aboelkheir of Egypt but could not sustain her pace, losing 11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-5 in 55 minutes.
