Malaysia sweep aside Singapore to reach Asian Championships semi-finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's men's team sank Singapore 2-0 to qualify for the Asian Squash Championships semi-finals in Dalian, China today.

Malaysia, who won the bronze in the 2022 edition in South Korea, will face the winners of the match between Japan or Korea, in the semi-finals.

Addeen Idrakie put Malaysia ahead by beating Jerome Clement Jin Ming 11-3, 11-5, 11-3. Asian champion Ng Eain Yow sealed the tie by trouncing Samuel Kang 11-7, 11-5, 11-2.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian women outclassed Mongolia 3-0 to top Group A with five wins.

Top seeds Malaysia will face Group B runners-up Japan in the semi-finals while defending champions Hong Kong will meet South Korea.

Malaysia rested world No. 10 S. Sivasangari against Mongolia. Aifa Azman beat Myadagaa Dogsam 11-0, 11-1, 11-2; Rachel Arnold beat Ariunbileg Altankhuyag 11-2,11-4,11-8; Aira Azman beat Saran Khishigbaatar 11-1, 11-3, 11-3.
