KUANTAN: Track queen Shereen Samson Vallabouy was on cruise control at the Malaysian Open in Kuantan today.
After clocking 55.44s to win the women's 400m semi-finals at the Darul Makmur Stadium, Shereen said timing was not her concern in that race as she just wanted to qualify for tomorrow's finals.
"Timing was not really on my mind today and I was kind of relaxed," she said after the race.
So, the business end for the 26-year-old Perakian will be tomorrow when she has to break her national record of 51.79 apart from winning the 400m race to improve her chances of qualifying for next month's Olympics.
Shereen needs to run 50.95 to qualify for Paris or break her national record twice to be ranked in the top 48 Olympic qualifying list. She is currently ranked 63rd.
