KUALA LUMPUR: Shooter Johnathan Wong is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to make a lasting impression at the Paris Olympics, which begins on July 26.
The 32-year-old, who will be making his second Olympic appearance in Paris after Rio 2016, is undergoing a series of simulation training sessions to prepare for the men's 10m air pistol event.
"Physically, I am in top shape, and now the focus is on maintaining this and translating it into optimal performance in Paris," said Johnathan.
"I am preparing meticulously thanks to the support of the National Sports Institute (NSI). I believe the training experience is better than I had before Rio 2016.
"Backed by my experience in Rio, I am fine-tuning strategies, understanding competition dynamics and preparing for every scenario during the competition.
"These simulations are crucial to avoid any unexpected challenges that could disrupt my performance" said Johnathan, a two-time Sea Games champion.
The Melaka-born shooter earned his Paris berth on merit when he finished fourth in the 10m air pistol discipline at the Asian Championships in South Korea last October.
Johnathan finished 28th in the 10m pistol event and 37th in the 50m pistol event in Rio.
