KUALA LUMPUR: Amid the infamous cardboard beds, the Malaysian contingent are going to sleep easy at the Paris Olympic Games Village.
The Games Village will house 26 national athletes in stages across three communes in the north of Paris - Saint-Ouen, Saint-Denis, and L'Ile-Saint-Denis.
Many athletes have shared their Olympic accommodation on social media – including the infamous beds made of cardboard.
However, Chef de Mission Datuk Hamidin Amin said the Malaysian athletes have settled well at the Games Village, and their feedback has been positive, including the cardboard beds.
The beds have been subject to scrutiny since they were introduced during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Many Olympic athletes took to social media to show viewers that the beds were not only sturdy but comfortable as well.
"The athletes are in good condition here in Paris. The athletes from archery, badminton, swimming, and diving are staying in the Games Village.
"The rooms and arrangements are good but of course they cannot be compared to five-star hotel rooms," Hamidin told Timesport
"Some of the rooms are brand new and some are refurbished, but they are all comfortable, including the cardboard beds. They're good enough and comfortable."
