KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia has secured his spot in the knockout stage of the Paris Olympics after topping Group G.
The world No. 7 Malaysian faced little resistance as he notched a 21-10, 21-13 victory over Spain's Pablo Abian, the oldest player in the tournament at 39.
Both Zii Jia and Abian had earlier clinched a win each by beating Viren Nettasinghe of Sri Lanka in the three-man pool.
Next, Zii Jia will face either reigning bronze medallist Anthony Ginting of Indonesia or home favourite Toma Junior Popov, who will play later today to determine the winner of Group H.
