KUALA LUMPUR: Asian champion S. Sivasangari moved up one rung to world No. 9 in the latest list on Monday.
Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia director Major (rtd) S. Maniam said Sivasangari moved up after Egypt's world No. 3 Nour El Tayeb, retired recently at age 31.
"Sivasangari is the third Malaysian women's player to rank top nine in the world after Nicol David (former world No. 1) and Low Wee Wern (former world No. 5).
"We set the target for her to break into top 10 by end of this year, but we are proud that she already achieved above the target well before end of this year."
Sivasangari, who won the London Classic in April, will compete in the Egyptian Open (Aug 30-Sept 6), Paris Squash (Sept 15-21), Qatar Classic (Sept 30-Oct 5 and US Open (Oct 19-26).
