LOS ANGELES: United States skateboarder Nyjah Huston made a surprising post on Instagram recently that showed his Olympic bronze medal wasn't in the best shape just a few days after winning it.
The 29-year-old, who clinched third place in the men's street final on July 29, recently returned to the US and noticed a decline in the quality of his medal.
"Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they're brand new. But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat and letting my friends wear it over the weekend, apparently it's not as high quality as you would think. It's looking rough," he said in an Instagram story.
He also showed the deteriorated part at the back of the medal, noting that while the front looked less damaged, its wear-and-tear was still visible.
"I don't know, Olympic medals, we gotta step up the quality a little bit," he added.
