KUALA LUMPUR: Sin Li Jane made history in the US Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour by becoming the first Asian to win the Player of the Year award.
Li Jane secured the honour in spectacular fashion, clinching her fourth title of the season at the Tour Championship, a major event, in Michigan, the United States, on Tuesday.
In the one-game final at Thunderbowl Lanes, the second-seeded Li Jane defeated American top seed Jordan Richard 215-209.
Richard was last year's Player of the Year.
Earlier in the semi-final, Li Jane bested American fifth seed Missy Parkin 217-206.
For her championship win, Li Jane earned the top prize of US$50,000 (RM221,000), bringing her total season earnings to US$154,570 (RM684,000).
Li Jane's other victories this season came at the Bowlers Journal Rockford Open, Greater Nashville Classic, and the US Women's Open.
