TMJ rallies JDT to victory  with words of encouragement

KUALA LUMPUR: Words of encouragement from the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) players, motivated and led to the Southern Tigers' success in lifting the FA Cup at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil last night.

JDT, through their social media platform, revealed a video inside the dressing room showing Tunku Ismail delivering a powerful message to the Southern Tigers' players before their final match against Selangor.

In the one-minute video, the Johor Regent is seen speaking in a firm and passionate tone, expressing his desire for Hector Bidoglio's squad to return home with the FA Cup trophy.

"Remember what I said yesterday, today is not the day for us to go home with our heads down.

"We need to hold our heads high with medals on our chests. The trophy is outside, it is the FA Cup, it is waiting for us, bring it home," he said.

JDT lifted the FA Cup for the fourth time in style after thrashing five-time champions Selangor 6-1 in front of 80,350 spectators who packed the National Stadium.

This victory saw the Southern Tigers making history as the first team to achieve a hat-trick of FA Cup wins, having previously won in 2022 and 2023.

Additionally, the Southern Tigers squad set a new record as the team with the biggest victory margin in an FA Cup final since the competition began in 1990.
