Moonton ready to take MLBB nationwide if states back initiative

JOHOR BARU: Moonton Games is eager to expand Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) events across Malaysia, provided state governments are willing to support the initiative.

The video game developer celebrated a milestone with Season 14 of the MLBB Professional League Malaysia (MPLMY) playoffs in Johor, which concluded on Sunday.

Selangor Red Giants made history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back titles, defeating Team Vamos 4-2 in the Grand Final in Iskandar Puteri.

Moonton marketing and business development head Fikri Rizal Mahruddin credited the successful event to a partnership with Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ).

"It was our first playoff event outside Klang Valley, and it turned out to be a success thanks to the support from the Johor community," he said.

The playoffs, which started on Oct 31, drew a sell-out crowd each day at EduCity Sports Complex.

"The success here in Johor shows we can deliver quality eSports tournaments outside of Klang Valley," Fikri added.

"This won't be our last venture outside Klang Valley. We want to continue this, but we can't do it alone.

"We hope to partner with state governments and federal bodies to grow the eSports scene together.

" If any state government is interested in bringing MPLMY to their area, we're ready to work with them."
