PUTRAJAYA: Restoring belief in themselves was key to Selangor Red Giants' (SRG) victory over Singapore's NIP Flash in Round One of the lower bracket at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship on Tuesday.
SRG faced strong opposition from the Singaporeans, but managed to register an emphatic 3-0 win to advance to the lower bracket quarter-finals.
On Saturday, SRG suffered a demoralising 2-0 loss to Fnatic Onic Philippines, which sent them to the lower bracket.
SRG analyst Poon "OzoraVeki" Kok Sing said having self-belief in their plans led them to victory against NIP.
"What changed for today's match is us restoring belief in ourselves and in the strategies that we made even before the M6 started.
"In the Swiss stage, we encountered gameplay mistakes that resulted in defeats and diminished our confidence.
"But M6 is the biggest stage in MLBB, so we had to bring back that belief and our identity," he said.
SRG will play Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi in the quarter-finals.
SRG are Malaysia's sole challenger left in the M6 World Championships after Team Vamos suffered a 3-1 defeat to Russia's Team Spirit earlier in the day and were eliminated.
