13 Malaysians reach second round of British Junior Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Joint ninth seed Anrie Goh was among 13 Malaysian squash players got past the first round of the British Junior Open in Birmingham today.

Anrie beat Victoria Leifels of Germany 11-0, 11-4, 11-3 in the girls' Under-19.

In the girls' Under-17, Harleein Tan beat South Africa's Sheryl Harborth 11-0, 11-0, 11-5; Whitney Wilson beat Poland's Hanna Wrobel 11-2, 11-3, 11-4; Ryu Jean Yek bt England's Anna-Jane Singh 11-0, 11-8, 11-3 and T. Dakshayani beat Scotland's Ella Bannister 11-4, 11-2, 11-6.

In the girls' Under-15, Siti Syaurah Sufian beat England's Bryony Harris 11-4, 11-6, 11-5; C. Sailajja beat Poland's Nadia Budzik 11-1, 11-7, 11-6 and Amber Kristy Muyou bt Ireland's Syeda Sarah Ahmed 11-4, 11-5, 11-5.

In the boys' Under-19, Wei Yan Tho overcame Kuwait's Khaled Alfouzan 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4.

In the boys' Under-17, Erwin Kros Christopher beat England's Joshua Underwood 11-1, 11-2, 11-1; Izz Nabil Iman Shahrizan Azrol beat Canada's Mohamed Elserafy 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 and Khailash Ravi Kumar beat England's Alam Hong 11-4, 11-3, 11-4.

In the boys' Under-13, joint ninth seed Hisshan Nair Tan beat Saudi Arabia's Qusay Alsaeed 11-3, 11-5, 11-5; Wayne Isaac Wilson beat England's Arthur Leonard 11-2, 11-0, 11-3, but Kovin Surendran lost 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 to China's joint fifth seed Yuan Xi Liu.
