ANAND Kumar, the mathematics teacher who founded Super 30 recently spent time with students from Ramjas School, RK Puram in New Delhi, India.
It was truly an honour for the students to meet this humble and simple man who founded the programme to assist underprivileged children.
During his session with the students, Anand shared four mantras to be successful in life - continuous hard work, continuous up-thrust, positivity and optimistic attitude.
Recently, Anand was felicitated in the United States with a prestigious teaching award in recognition of his contributions towards imparting education to needy students.
Reports in the Hindustan Times said the Education Excellence Award 2019 was presented to him by the Foundation For Excellence (FFE) at a function on the occasion of the organisation’s 25th anniversary gala in San Jose, California.
In his thank you speech, Anand called upon the strong Indian community in the US and across the world to help education become the strongest weapon to fight problems.
“Making quality education accessible to the masses will make a huge difference to the world by solving the core issues of poverty, unemployment, population explosion, environmental degradation and a lot more,” he said.
Speaking at a packed auditorium he said Indians have been doing wonders in different fields across the globe, including the US, and it would be immensely satisfying for them to give something back to their society.
“There can be no gift more precious than education,” he said.
For the last 18 years, Anand has been running the highly innovative Super 30 programme to mentor 30 students free off cost through a year-long residential coaching for India’s premiere Indian Institutes of Technology – Joint Entrance Examinations (IIT-JEE).
The success rate has been phenomenal, with students from underprivileged sections witnessing a generational change by entering the premiere institutions.
