Travellers to Singapore to be subjected to enhanced security checks from Jan 9-22

KUALA LUMPUR: From January 9 to 22, travellers arriving in Singapore can expect longer delays and enhanced security checks at all land, air, and sea checkpoints.

The Straits Times reported that the additional measures were in announced by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). 

In a Facebook post on Jan 9, the authority said the additional measures were in response to increased security concerns in the region, and advised travellers to allocate extra time for immigration processing.

US vice president Kamala Harris will travel through Asia, the Middle East, and Europe from Jan 13 to 17. 

During her visit to Asia, she will visit Singapore on Jan 15 to meet with local leaders and tour Changi Naval Base.
