KUALA LUMPUR: Rapper and filmmaker Namewee is relieved that the 834 videos on his YouTube channel have been restored.
"Namewee's YouTube Account is BACK! Thank you to everyone who has helped us and supporting us! We will keep creating our music/videos and keep voicing out for freedom!" wrote the 38-year-old artiste on his channel which was hacked by someone believed to be from Russia.
Taiwan media recently reported that after his channel was hacked, nearly 1,000 videos were wiped.
Set up in 2006, the channel has 3.27 million subscribers, and has garnered some 1.4 billion views.
Namewee, who is currently in London, and his management team had reached out to YouTube for assistance.
"I've managed this channel for 13 years; it's a very long journey. But, everything is gone now," he said in his Facebook post after the channel was hacked.
For good measure, he also added an angry message to the hacker, shouting in a foreign language and ended the video with: "We support Ukraine. (Expletive) Russia."
