KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg said he will issue an official statement later today related to the issue surrounding the gas distribution rights in Sarawak involving Petronas and Petros.
The statement will respond to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's remarks yesterday, in which he believed that the matter has been resolved.
"I will issue a statement on the matter later today," he said briefly after attending the launching of Primary Health Centre (PKP) at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Teaching Hospital earlier today.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, had said that the Sarawak Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016 shall not supersede the Petroleum Development Act 1974 and the Federal Constitution as well as other federal laws.
He said the government had organised engagement sessions with Petronas, the Sarawak government and the Attorney-General's Chambers to discuss the issue.
