Takiyuddin likely to contest Kota Baru seat for third time

KOTA BARU: Caretaker Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has not ruled out defending his Kota Baru seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

This was based on the fact he was not informed by Pas that he would contest in another seat.

"As far as l am concerned, l will defend my seat. So far, l have received no directive (from Pas headquarters) to contest in another Parliamentary seat in Kelantan," he said.

Takiyuddin said this to reporters after launching the ministry's Carnival @ Kota Baru Prihatin here today.

The Pas secretary-general has served as the Kota Baru Member of Parliament since 2013 and the seat will be among 14 parliamentary constituencies in the east coast state, which will be contested in GE15

Besides Kota Baru, eight other Parliamentary seats in Kelantan were won by the Islamic party in the 14th

The eight are Pasir Mas, Rantau Panjang, Pengkalan Chepa, Kubang Kerian, Tumpat, Pasir Puteh, Bachok and Kuala Krai

Three others were won by Barisan Nasional, namely Gua Musang, Machang and Ketereh, while Tanah Merah and Jeli Parliamentary seats are held by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
