ESSCOM land operations chief dies

KOTA KINABALU: Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) Land Operations Division chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk M Chandra has died.

It is learned that Chandra was found unconscious at his home in Likas around 7am and was taken to hospital. Efforts to resuscitate him in the ambulance were unsuccessful.

He was pronounced dead at 8.45am.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed Chandra's passing.

He said the last message he received from Chandra was at 5.18am this morning.

"The cause of death has not yet been determined," Jauteh said, adding an autopsy would be performed.

Chandra's remains are expected to be taken to Wisma Fook Lu Siew here for people to pay their final respects to the former Kota Kinabalu police chief.

Chandra joined the police in 1994. He was the Kota Kinabalu police chief between 2014 and 2018.
