Scam victim Pei Jing braves on at Indonesia Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles shuttler Lai Pei Jing, who has been cheated of her life savings by a scam syndicate recently, continued to fight on.

She and Tan Kian Meng checked into the second round of the Indonesia Open today after defeating Algerian siblings Koceila Mammeri-Tanina Violette Mammeri 21-9, 21-15 at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

World No. 21 Kian Meng-Pei Jing will face Denmark's Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje next.

In the post-match interview, Pei Jing declined to comment on the scam.

On Sunday, Pei Jing revealed on social media that she had fallen victim to a syndicate.

After lodging a police complaint, Pei Jing has requested for she and her family to be given personal space to deal with the matter.

Also reaching the second round were national men's doubles Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani who thrashed Canada's Adam Dong-Nyl Yakura 21-6, 21-7.
