Busted: Duo arrested in viral Ulu Tiram phone theft

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained two suspects linked to the theft of a mobile phone at a premises in Ulu Tiram, Johor, an incident that gained traction on social media.

Seri Alam District police chief, Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, disclosed that the suspects, aged 32 and 38, were apprehended on June 3.

"Both individuals have a history of six prior drug offences and five criminal records. Initial urine tests confirmed methamphetamine presence in both suspects.

"The suspects have been remanded for four days, from June 4 to 7," he said in a statement.

Additionally, police confiscated a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and a remote control unit.

The case is under investigation pursuant to Section 380 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
