Sivasangari-led Malaysia crowned Asian squash champions

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 10 S. Sivasangari led Malaysia to a 2-0 win over defending champions Hong Kong in the women's final of the Asian Team Squash Championships in Dalian, China, on Sunday.

Malaysia now hold the record with 11 victories since the tournament's inception in 1986.

Sivasangari, who was upset by world No. 14 Satomi Watanabe of Japan in the semi-finals on Saturday, warded off a strong challenge from Hong Kong's Ho Tze Lok before prevailing 10-12, 13-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-8 to earn Malaysia's first point.

National No. 2 Rachel Arnold delivered the winning point with an 11-6, 11-5, 11-8 win over Tong Tsz Wing.

Malaysia can achieve a double if the men's team beat Hong Kong later on Sunday.
