KPJ Healthcare continues its transformation path

KUALA LUMPUR: KPJ Healthcare Berhad is carrying out its transformation path by improving its services, the health tourism industry, and digital transformation.

"As we move forward and push farther with our transformation journey in 2024, we will strengthen our efforts to enhance our services, expand our health tourism sector, and continue our journey of digital transformation," said the company's president and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan.

"We have and will continue to strategically expand our services by activating more bed capacity and adding more top-tier specialists and nurses," he said in a statement after the company's annual general meeting.

According to Chin, KPJ's patient-centric approach continues to drive the company to meet the growing and holistic needs of patients and customers.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2023 (FY23), the private hospital operator posted a net profit of RM263 million, 57.8 per cent higher than RM167 million in the previous year, while its revenue increased 19 per cent to RM3.4 billion from RM2.87 billion.

KPJ said the success in 2023 was partly driven by its five strategic pillars, which are asset optimisation, new sources of growth, digital-first, rebranding, and culture activation.

It also achieved significant milestones in FY23, including the number of inpatient visits, which increased by 19 per cent, from 305,051 to 361,987 patients, and the bed occupancy rate (BOR), which improved to 67 per cent from 58 per cent.

Chin said that the consistent rise in FY23 is a testament to KPJ's dedication to patient care and operational excellence in line with its "Care for Life" philosophy.

As KPJ looks towards the future, it remains dedicated to advancing healthcare standards, driving innovation, and maintaining its leadership in the Malaysian healthcare sector.

KPJ said these include several exciting initiatives in the pipeline, such as its forthcoming rebranding exercise.
