KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corp Bhd and Electric Power Development Co Ltd (J-POWER) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop potential greenfield and brownfield power generation and water projects globally including Malaysia.
In a statement released today, the company said the strategic collaboration will see both parties jointly evaluate potential development of power and water projects.
Malakoff chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said the collaboration would present a synergistic opportunity for both parties to leverage on each other’s strengths.
“This would further drive operational effectiveness and efficiency of its power plants as well as to collaborate on future projects,” he said.
The MoU would also leverage on J-POWER’s operational and technical expertise including in the thermal, hydro, and renewable power markets.
Malakoff would also share its expertise in the power and water desalination projects as well as other collaboration frameworks including knowledge sharing and technical services.
The MoU was signed by Ahmad Fuaad and J-POWER’s director and head of global power business division, Dr Yoshiki Onoi.
J-POWER is one of the largest power companies in Japan with installed capacity of approximately 24.6 GW worldwide, inclusive of 61 hydroelectric power plants and 22 wind farms across Japan.
It also operates major transmission lines with a total length of 2,400 km while having an extensive consulting experience on over 357 projects in 64 countries for over 50 years.
