Sabah approves critical power generation projects

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Energy Council has approved several critical projects for the development of power generation with a total capacity of 700 Megawatts (MW).

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said the projects were meant to restore the state's grid system.

He said that among the key projects were the hydroelectric project and the natural gas power plant.

The second Sabah Energy Council meeting at Menara Kinabalu here also received feedback from the Energy Commission of Sabah regarding the progress of other important power generation projects following a meeting in June.

Hajiji said decisions were also made on the implementation of future energy source projects such as hydroelectric and the development of the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion plant.
