Almost all beauty salons, barbershops adhere to SOP, says minister

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The compliance level of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) at barbershops and beauty salons nationwide is more than 90 per cent since operations resumed under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said authorities were still conducting checks under Ops Catut, although there was no complaint made against those in the said sector.

"We also observe that customers have become accustomed to the new normal," he said on Sunday after visiting Syarikat Prifaria Distribution Haulage Prai branch and Syarikat Heap Lee Chan Sdn Bhd here.

To date, the ministry has checked 551 barbershops and beauty salons.

"We have issued 788 notices under Section 21 of Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and 17 warning notices to the operators," he said, adding no barbershops or beauty salons had been closed for not adhering the SOPs.

The minister also he would meet with the poultry farmers association at his office tomorrow (Monday) to deliberate on issues involving chicken supply and prices.
