KUCHING: Voter turnout for the 12th Sarawak Election stood slightly above 50 per cent, two hours before all voting centres state-wide close.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the voter turnout reached 52 per cent as at 3pm today.
The EC has set a target for 70 per cent voter turnout for the state election involving contests at 82 constituencies.
All 1,866 polling centres with 3,555 voting streams opened at 7.30am till 5pm.
There are, however, voting centres that closed before 5pm after all the registered voters in the consitutiency have voted.
A total 100 voting centres have closed in stages since 11am today.
