KUALA LUMPUR: Their senior team are used to collecting trophies, and Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) played their part in adding another title to the Southern Tigers' cabinet.
JDT II clinched the Premier League title after a 1-0 win over Selangor FC II at UiTM Stadium Friday night.
Daryl Sham's winner in the 49th minute was enough for JDT II to collect three points for a total of an unassailable 42 points.
The senior JDT team, who won the FA Cup recently, are on course to recording their ninth Super League.
JDT II Argentine coach Mariano Echeverria said: "The experienced players like Levy Madinda, Junior Eldstal, Fernando Rodriguez and Bienvenido Maranon blended perfectly with the youngsters."
Selangor II coach Rusdi Suparman said despite the defeat, he was proud to have coached a talented bunch of footballers who have been absorbed into the national Under-19 and national Under-23 teams.
Kelantan finished second with 37 points from 18 games in the second tier Premier League after drawing 1-1 against Kelantan United at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium.
The Premier League will be discontinued after this season as six teams - Kuching City FC, Kelantan, T-Team, Police, UiTM and Perak - will be absorbed into the Super League. Replacing the Premier League will be the Reserve League which comprises feeders teams from the Super League clubs.
