EFFECTIVE June 3, the right turning into Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from Jalan Sultan Ismail will be permanently closed to motorists to ease traffic flow.
In a statement, Kuala Lumpur City Hall said the intersection’s closure would reduce the traffic stop phases from four to three.
“Reduction of the (traffic stop) phases (following the road closure) is expected to ease overall traffic flow in the city centre, especially in Jalan Sultan Ismail from the Jalan Ampang junction to the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman-Jalan Sultan Ismail intersection,” City Hall Corporate Planning Department director Khalid Zakaria said.
He suggested alternative routes to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and its surrounding areas:
TURNING left from the direction of Jalan Sultan Ismail to Jalan Raja Laut at the Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan Raja Laut intersection;
TURNING right from Jalan Raja Laut to Jalan Sri Amar at the Jalan Raja Laut-Jalan Sri Amar intersection; and,
TURNING right from Jalan Sri Amar to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman at the Jalan Sri Amar-Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman intersection.
Khalid urged motorists to take note of the changes and adhere to the road signs.
