A READER has complained that the parking rate at the open carpark of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang is exorbitant.
Radhi said he did not expect to pay more than RM100 for parking overnight at the carpark.
“On May 26, my family and I went to Kuala Terengganu to visit my granddaughter, who turned 2 months old.
“We took a low-cost flight and parked our car at the open carpark opposite the terminal building.
“I knew the charge would be high for overnight parking, but it really surprised me when the fee came up to RM124.80.
“Usually, carparks will set a maximum rate. So, the charge shook me.
“They are overcharging and I feel this is profiteering.”
ACTIONLINE:
A carpark management employee said there was no maximum rate at the carpark.
“The customer had parked for 39 hours and our hourly rate is RM3.20, which is not inclusive of the 6 per cent goods and services tax (GST). With that in mind, it became RM117.74, plus RM7.02 for GST, totalling RM124. 80.”
He added that information regarding the rates was stated on the signboard at the carpark.
“We don’t set a maximum rate or night rate. Everything is clearly stated.”
