Emirates appoints country manager Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: Emirates has appointed Abdalla Al Zamani as the airline’s country manager, Malaysia, effective February 1, 2018, to lead growth efforts across the country.

In a statement released today, the Dubai based airline said Abdalla’s appointment would be instrumental in bringing his regional expertise to further realise the continuous growth of Emirates in the market.

Abdalla will be based in Malaysia to lead the Malaysian commercial operations, working together closely with Emirates area manager, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, Andrew Bunn on a strategic business level.

“This appointment is testament to our success in Malaysia and the opportunities that have been created through our rapid growth,” Bunn said, whom Abdalla will be report directly to.

He added the industry is constantly evolving and the airline remains committed to looking at new ways at developing its services and expanding its commercial footprint in Malaysia.

“We welcome Abdalla to our Emirates Malaysia team, and we look forward to him leading the business in one of our key regional markets,” he said.

Bunn said Abdalla’s track record of achievements and industry experience will be invaluable in staying competitive in a new year of growth.

Having been with Emirates for 10 years, Abdalla has since held positions in India and Bangladesh – two of Emirates’ busiest markets.

Emirates capacity in Malaysia has grown by 55 per cent since 2014, thanks to the introduction of the Airbus A380 aircraft, bringing the flying experience for customers to the next level.

Previously, he was the airline’s manager in Ethiopia the Philippines.

Abdalla earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the American University of Sharjah.

Abdalla had a training in the aviation sector with the Representative Office of the UAE at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.
