Najib steps down as Khazanah Nasional chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak alongside two other board members have stepped down from their respective positions at sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

In a statement, Khazanah said Najib has resigned as chairman of the board effective May 31 2018.

Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah, meanwhile, have resigned from the board effective May 30 and May 23 respectively.

Khazanah Nasional is the strategic investment fund of the government, entrusted to hold and manage the collective assets of the government and to undertake strategic investments.

The sovereign wealth fund is involved in various sectors such as power, telecommunications, financial institutions, healthcare, aviation, infrastructure, leisure & tourism, property, creative & media, education, and innovation & technolody.

Some of the key listed companies in Khazanah’s investment portfolio include Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Tenaga Nasional bhd, CIMB Group, Axiata Group Bhd, IHH Healthcare Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and UEM Sunrise Bhd.
