KUALA LUMPUR: Fast food chain A&W (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd intends to strengthen its position in the local food and beverage (F&B) segment by opening 10 to 12 new outlets by 2019.
Acting chief executive officer Mohd Hasmadi Zainal said it planned he to open seven branches, of which five of them offer drive-through services, in the second half of this year.
The new branches will be located in several major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Ipoh and Penang as the presence of the fast food restaurant was still low in the area.
"At the moment we want to focus on the opening of a new branch in the city so it can build a brand and attract the public to A&W Malaysia.
"We also allocate around RM1.2 million for each new branch and hope it will help boost this fast food brand," he said after a prize presentation ceremony for La Mole Burger contest winners here yesterday.
The event celebrated 30 lucky customers who received a total reward of RM10,000 for the contest organised in March this year.
Additionally, the fast food brand also introduced its limited time offer of Cool Classics in its combo set starting from RM15.
Mohd Hasmadi said for the second half of 2018, it expected better prospects for A&W Malaysia’s business. This will to be supported by its growth plans.
"We are seeing positive performance since it has become a concern after the branch was renovated with a new internal concept," he said.
A&W Malaysia has so far had 41 outlets in Peninsular Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and Perak with a total of 500 employees.
A&W Malaysia will introduce new products or promotions every three months including a contest for loyal customers.
