Pos Malaysia appoints Yasmin Mahmood as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd has appointed Datuk Yasmin Mahmood as its non-independent and non-executive chairman.

Yasmin will succeed Datuk Mohammad Zainal Shaari, who will step down with effect from April 1.

The courier company said Zainal was stepping down to focus towards on-going rationalisation within DRB-HICOM Group.

“During his tenure as chairman, Zainal provided strong guidance and support to the management, and contributed enormously to Pos Malaysia’s vision and mission,” the firm said in a statement.

Yasmin, who assumes the role on April 1, has served both the public and private sectors throughout her career spanning three decades.

She had served various technology giants; starting with being general manager of Hewlett Packard Malaysia’s Commercial Channels Organisation (1995 – 1999), taking on a dual-role of general manager and regional corporate director of Dell Malaysia (1999 – 2006), before moving on to become Microsoft Malaysia’s managing director (2006 – 2009).

In September 2014, Yasmin was appointed CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corp Sdn Bhd.

She had also represented Malaysia and Asean at major international events which include the World Economic Forum (WEF), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIFE).

Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa will also resign as independent non-executive director with effect from April 1.

Pos Malaysia said Zamzamzairani was stepping down due to his high level of commitment as board member of other companies.
